28th August 2026 – (Hong Kong) The incident at apm mall’s “Summer Playfest” has drawn significant public attention after two families became embroiled in a dispute, which escalated into a physical altercation. Footage circulating online shows an elderly woman forcefully pushing and slapping a five-year-old girl, causing her to fall. The confrontation reportedly began when a boy and the young girl started arguing over a basketball at a play area, ultimately involving their families in the fray.
It came to light that the 34-year-old mother of the boy, surnamed Ng, was an insurance practitioner with AIA Hong Kong. The revelation prompted a wave of comments on the insurer’s social media platforms, with many users requesting an official response from the company. Eventually, AIA Hong Kong closed the comments section as the outcry intensified.
Responding to the widespread concern, AIA Hong Kong stated that it maintains strict standards for the conduct of its financial advisors and does not condone any form of violence. The company confirmed that the staff member in question has been suspended with immediate effect and assured the public that appropriate follow-up actions would be undertaken.
Following a police investigation, it was established that three individuals were arrested—Ng, her 68-year-old mother, surnamed Leung, and the 34-year-old mother of the injured girl, surnamed Tsui. The charges relate to fighting in a public place, with Leung also facing an additional charge of common assault. All those involved, including the child, received medical treatment at United Christian Hospital and were reported to be conscious. The case is currently under investigation by the Kwun Tong District Criminal Investigation Team, with a court hearing scheduled at Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Courts for 3rd September in the morning.
