28th August 2026 – (Hong Kong) A fatal traffic accident occurred in Kwai Fong this morning when a refuse truck travelling along Hing Ning Road outside 12 Metroplaza struck a female pedestrian at approximately 10.10am. The woman was knocked down while crossing the road and sustained severe injuries, losing consciousness at the scene. Paramedics arrived promptly and carried out an immediate assessment, but she was pronounced dead at the location. The driver of the refuse truck remained at the scene and is assisting police as they investigate the circumstances leading to the incident.
After the accident, the garbage truck involved stopped at the roadside on Hing Fong Road, with cardboard and a handcart left underneath the vehicle. The South Asian driver remained at the scene to assist police and was later arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. He is currently being detained for investigation.
