29th August 2026 – (Bangkok) Authorities in Bangkok are assessing the extent of damage after a fire erupted on Friday night at the Khlong Thom Centre, a well-known multi-storey market located in the Pom Prap Sattru Phai district. The incident, which unfolded at the vibrant retail complex renowned for auto parts, tools, electronics and vintage goods, was first reported to the Rama 199 radio centre at 8.42pm on 28th August. Emergency personnel immediately coordinated with local volunteers and response units to reach the site on Worachak Road without delay.
On arrival at 8.45pm, firefighters from the Suan Mali fire and rescue station encountered heavy smoke and flames emanating from a ground-floor shop. Immediate action was taken to suppress the fire and prevent further spread to adjacent shops and other sections of the building. Containment efforts proved effective as fire and rescue teams maintained a strong presence into the night, ensuring the situation did not escalate further.
