11th November 2025 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong will provide a one-off subsidy of HK$20,000 to each elderly and disability community centre to help more residents cast ballots in the forthcoming Legislative Council election, extending measures first introduced at the last territory-wide poll two years ago.
Labour and Welfare Secretary Chris Sun Yuk-han said the funding will support transport arrangements for elderly people, persons with disabilities and their carers who intend to vote. He added that, on polling day, residential care homes and district support centres across the city will deploy vehicles and staff to take service users and carers to and from polling stations.
Facilities will also deliver short-term care while carers leave to vote and will encourage clients to participate actively in the election. The Labour and Welfare Bureau and the Social Welfare Department have been running election-related activities in these centres to raise awareness among service users.
