4th November 2026 – (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) CD Tenerife announced that forward Jesús de Miguel, aged 30, died this morning after sustaining critical injuries in a stoppage‑time collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during Monday’s Segunda División match. The game, tied 2‑2 at the time, was abandoned. De Miguel was treated on the pitch before being taken to the University Hospital of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, where the club said his condition deteriorated neurologically and he died at 8.00am local time.
Clubs across Spain and beyond offered condolences to Tenerife and de Miguel’s family as police opened inquiries into the circumstances of the incident. Reports in Spain said the forward collapsed after a heavy impact while chasing a long ball near midfield and that emergency staff responded immediately on the turf before transferring him to hospital. FC Andorra confirmed their sympathies to Tenerife, and broadcasters in Spain reported that the authorities are reviewing footage and match reports as part of standard procedure following a fatality linked to play.
