24th August 2026 – (Hong Kong) Residents at Chun Kwai House in Kwai Chung Estate spoke of a quiet, distant presence in their corridor, saying they seldom saw the married couple together and mostly noticed an elderly man, Mr Kwok, coming and going on his own. Several neighbours said interaction was minimal, recalling that he rarely greeted others in lifts or communal areas.
One neighbour, who asked not to be named, characterised Mr Kwok as reserved and difficult to approach. She said repeated complaints had been made over the years about classic pop songs played at very high volume inside his flat, which disturbed nearby households, including those trying to sleep after night shifts. According to her account, the complaints occasionally escalated into door‑knocking confrontations on different floors, and overall relations on the landing were strained as a result.
Others on the same floor echoed that they rarely, if ever, encountered Mrs Tsang. A long‑time resident who has lived there for nearly three decades said she would occasionally see Mr Kwok in the lift but they never exchanged greetings, and she could not recall meeting his wife at all. Another neighbour, who moved in around two years ago, said her routines meant she seldom crossed paths with the couple; she did not notice anything unusual the previous evening and only learnt of the incident from news reports. She admitted feeling unsettled that a serious case had unfolded on her floor, though she stressed that disputes from the unit were seldom audible in day‑to‑day life.
