8th September 2026 – (New York) Strategy reported no Bitcoin purchases or sales last week, keeping its treasury at 845,050 BTC, which it values at roughly US$66.1 billion, according to a filing cited on Tuesday. The company said it instead repurchased about 1.81 million STRC preferred shares for approximately US$176.3 million and increased its digital credit securities buy‑back authorisation to US$2 billion from US$1 billion. The firm noted the repurchases were funded from its USD Cash reserve, and as at 7th September its USD Reserve and USD Cash balances stood at about US$5.1 billion and US$1.44 billion, respectively.
Management has previously defended selective Bitcoin sales to fund obligations, with Chief Executive Phong Le arguing that selling a limited amount at opportune levels can be preferable to issuing equity to cover preferred dividends. After pausing Bitcoin purchases for around ten weeks to reinforce the balance sheet, the company disclosed it bought 4,603 BTC between 24th August and 30th August for about US$369.7 million at an average of US$80,318 per Bitcoin. Executives have also pushed back against an MSCI consultation on excluding certain “non‑operating asset” companies from major indices, calling the proposal discriminatory and urging its withdrawal.
Strategy describes itself as the world’s first and largest Bitcoin treasury company, led by Chief Executive Phong Le and Founder and Executive Chairman Michael Saylor. Industry trackers note that a growing cohort of listed firms hold Bitcoin in treasury, with names such as Twenty One Capital, Metaplanet, Marathon Digital and Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company appearing among the larger holders by volume.
The company’s shares advanced 6.6 per cent last week, ending Friday at US$142.80, trimming the year‑to‑date decline to 7.6 per cent, though still 56.7 per cent lower over the past year. Bitcoin rose 1.8 per cent over the same period.
