10th September 2026 – (Hong Kong) Apple’s first foldable handset, the iPhone Duo, lands in Hong Kong at HK$17,499 for the entry-level 256GB model — the third-lowest listed price among major markets surveyed after launch, with only the United States and Canada undercutting the city’s ticket.
Apple staged its product event in the early hours of Thursday Hong Kong time, unveiling the long-trailed foldable. Compilations by Indian technology site 91 Mobiles and Middle East outlet Bazaar Times, drawing on official local store prices across countries and regions, put the United States at the bottom of the bill, followed by Canada, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates. Turkey, Brazil and India sit at the expensive end of the same rankings.
On that league table the base Duo costs US$1,999 in America, about HK$15,675 at the conversions used in the coverage; Canada’s C$2,999 works out near HK$17,033; Hong Kong’s HK$17,499 is third; and the UAE’s AED8,499 converts to roughly HK$18,147. Buyers should note that US and Canadian sticker prices often exclude state or provincial sales taxes added at checkout, so the final till total can rise even where the list price still looks keen against Asia and Europe.
The dearest starting tickets in the same round-up are Turkey at 229,999 Turkish lira, about HK$37,191; Brazil at R$21,999, about HK$33,774; and India at Rs299,900, about HK$24,634. Apple’s Turkish store listing also shows how steep the top storage rung becomes there: a 1TB Duo is priced at 280,999 lira, roughly HK$45,436, underlining how duties, taxes and currency can stretch the same hardware far beyond Cupertino’s US dollar base.
For Hong Kong shoppers the third-place ranking means the city’s official price sits only a few hundred dollars above the Canadian equivalent and about HK$1,800 above the US list, while still well clear of Gulf and South Asian tags that push the same 256GB foldable past HK$18,000 or even HK$24,000. Whether travellers chase overseas bargains will still depend on warranty cover, customs and tax rules — but on the raw Apple store numbers alone, America and Canada remain the cheapest places to buy the Duo, with Hong Kong close behind among the cheapest quartet.
