7th September 2026 – (Guiyang, Guizhou) A woman who vanished in early 2019 was confirmed dead in 2025 after police in Guiyang matched DNA from an unidentified female head found in March 2019 to samples taken from her parents, exposing a domestic homicide. Investigators determined that the victim’s husband, angered by remarks about his sexual performance during an argument on 19th January 2019, strangled her the same night before dismembering and disposing of the body the following day. He then used her mobile phone to send text messages to relatives to fabricate a story that she had left home because of an affair.
According to case materials cited in mainland media, the couple, who married in 2012 and ran a small restaurant, had two daughters. After the woman disappeared, the husband told her family she had left, transferred the restaurant and moved away. Police later noted that while the woman typically sent voice notes, from 21st January 2019 onward only text messages were received, and the last person known to be with her was her husband. He was summoned on 2nd September 2025 and admitted to the killing and the subsequent disposal of remains.
On 25th August 2026, the Guiyang Intermediate People’s Court issued a criminal judgment with civil compensation, finding the husband guilty of intentional homicide and noting that the mutilation and disposal were aimed at destroying evidence. Taking into account that the offence stemmed from a domestic dispute and that he later confessed and expressed remorse, the court on 4th September 2026 imposed life imprisonment, lifelong deprivation of political rights, and ordered compensation of 100,000 yuan to the victim’s family.
