2nd February 2026 – (Gaza) Members of Gaza’s newly established administrative committee have been unable to enter the territory as planned due to unresolved technical issues at the Rafah crossing, according to committee officials. Aed Yaghi, a member of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, said the 15-member body is still in Cairo after encountering unspecified logistical obstacles, though he expressed optimism that entry could be arranged within the next few days. Another committee member, who spoke anonymously, revealed that the group has yet to secure a headquarters or operating funds, noting that no financial support has been received so far, although plans are in place to rent premises in Gaza City.

Once inside Gaza, the committee intends to hold talks with Palestinian factions and government departments to coordinate the transfer of ministerial responsibilities and offices. Separately, Palestinian security sources said around 50 patients are expected to return to Gaza via Rafah on Monday, while procedures for residents seeking to leave the territory remain unclear. The Rafah crossing partially reopened on Sunday on a trial basis after being shut for more than 18 months.
