Beijing police confirm arrest of Mainland singer Li Yifeng for engaging prostitution services, online rumour accuses him of participating in orgy

    11th September 2022 – (Beijing) 35-year-old Mainland actor and singer Li Yifeng, who was involved in the prostitution scandal a few days ago, was suspended to perform at the CCTV Mid-Autumn Festival Gala yesterday (10th) alongside Hong Kong singer Hacken Lee, Mike Tsang, Chinese actress Zhou Dongyu etc.

    CCTV issued a statement this afternoon saying that, “Beijing police have detained Li during a criminal case. He confessed to the illegal act of visiting prostitutes many times, and has been administratively detained according to law.” The article added that Beijing Public Security Bureau had also confirmed this news on social media.

    Another media outlet criticised Li for not feeling remorseful over his immoral conduct as a public figure. In addition, some mainland media pointed out that Li Yifeng has terminated contracts with 3 companies successively this year, and many of the brands he endorsed have already terminated respective working relationships with him.

    Some Mainland netizens spread rumours that Li Yifeng hired the service of underage prostitutes with some girls as young as 14 years old. He paid RMB 6,000 (about HK$6,799) for each service. Several female netizens claimed that they accompanied him to Haikou for filming and saw him engaging the services of prostitutes and he also indulged in pornographic movies. A photo of Li Yifeng watching a pornographic movie with a tablet computer was also shared on social media. It is also reported that this is the third time he has been arrested and it was rumoured that he participated in an orgy involving 7 women and 1 man. He was arrested in Shanghai in June and Beijing in September. He was then arrested again 2 days ago. The rumours have not been verified.
