31st March 2025 – (Hong Kong) A recent incident at City University of Hong Kong has captured online attention, following the circulation of video footage depicting a violent altercation between police officers and an individual in a white shirt within the university’s library. The footage shows two officers grappling with the suspect amid overturned furniture and shouts of distress. One officer appeared to be incapacitated, and despite deploying pepper spray, the man managed to evade capture temporarily. Police shouted commands for him to halt, but a subsequent chase ensued, culminating in the suspect being subdued and escorted away, half-naked and handcuffed.
Reports indicate that prior to the confrontation in the library, an altercation occurred in the cafeteria where the suspect allegedly assaulted a staff member before fleeing to the library. Images circulating online show a cafeteria employee with a torn shirt and an exposed arm, suggesting a violent encounter. Investigations are underway as City University and law enforcement agencies are contacted for further details regarding the incident.

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene where a dispute broke out between a Mainland student and a cafeteria employee during breakfast service, leading to multiple staff members intervening. The situation escalated when the student allegedly hurled plates and cups, subsequently injuring a staff member before making his way to the library. Additional accounts suggest patrons nearby witnessed the fracas, with reports of an ensuing chase involving shield-equipped officers entering the premises.
