28th October 2026 – (Shanghai) Yumiko Cheng, 45, prompted speculation after sharing a photo of herself cradling a newborn and writing that the family had welcomed “a new member”, before clarifying the baby is her long‑serving domestic helper’s child. She said her daughter Avery Leung, known by the nickname Leung Chum‑chum and given name Leung Tsz‑yau, has become more considerate since the infant’s arrival, embracing a big‑sister role at home and learning to look after others. Cheng added a light‑hearted wish for her helper to enjoy family happiness and return from maternity leave soon, drawing praise from followers who commended her as a conscientious employer.
Attention has also turned to Avery’s schooling as she progresses into secondary education at Yew Chung International School of Shanghai, a long‑established bilingual school offering Cambridge IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The school emphasises bilingual learning and cross‑cultural understanding from kindergarten through secondary, and is accredited by major international bodies. For the 2026 to 2027 academic year, published tuition ranges from about RMB 200,000 to RMB 366,300 depending on year level, with secondary fees listed at RMB 353,700 for Years 7 to 9, RMB 360,000 for Years 10 to 11 and RMB 366,300 for Years 12 to 13, in addition to transport, meals and other charges. Parents note the increases continue to outpace general inflation, intensifying debate over affordability for expatriate and returning families alike.
