29th August 2026 – (Hong Kong) A fatal accident involving a cat occurred at Mei Foo Sun Chuen, 5-7 Nassau Street, when police received a report at 5.28pm today that a cat had apparently fallen from a significant height and died at the scene. Upon arrival, authorities commenced an investigation and preliminarily concluded that the tragedy may have resulted from the male owner’s failure to properly secure a window in the residence.
Eyewitnesses recounted the distressing aftermath on social media, describing how the cat showed brief signs of movement after landing but sadly succumbed shortly after. Attempts were made to seek help from a nearby veterinary clinic, though no veterinarian was available at the time. Another resident later commented that the owner, accompanied by a young boy, was seen coming downstairs and explained that, upon returning home, he had found the window grille unsecured and the cat missing. According to reports, the owner retrieved the cat’s body, which was subsequently placed in a black plastic bag and a cardboard box for handling. The incident has prompted concern among local residents regarding pet safety and home security.
