14th February 2020 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong police posted a picture on their Facebook account yesterday after two suspects smashed the window of a car to steal 160 pieces of 3M N95 surgical masks.

According to the police, in the small hours of 11 February, offenders broke the windows of a private car parked in San Shing Avenue, Sheung Shui and stole eight boxes containing a total of 160 pieces of N95 surgical masks from the car.

After a thorough investigation including viewing CCTV, Police officers arrested one male during an “anti-theft from vehicle” operation in Choi Yuen Estate, Sheung Shui, this morning. The Police have identified one other suspect and will make every effort to bring him to justice.

The coronavirus outbreak has spiked the demand for surgical masks. Those with surgical masks and other products used to combat the epidemic may become prey to thieves. The Police remind members of the public to keep their personal belongings safe at all times.
