13th August 2023 – (Yancheng City) A tornado swept through Longgang Village and Jiulongkou Village in Dafeng District, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province on Sunday afternoon (13th), resulting in at least two fatalities and 15 injuries. The local government has been working to relocate and provide assistance to the affected residents, while also initiating post-disaster recovery and reconstruction efforts.
The incident occurred at around 4.15pm, when a tornado hit multiple areas in Dafeng District. Preliminary assessments indicate that 283 rural houses and 32 vegetable greenhouses have been damaged, with further evaluations underway to determine the full extent of the devastation. Fortunately, all injured individuals have been promptly transported to hospitals for treatment, and there are no reported life-threatening injuries.
Following the disaster, city and district leaders rushed to the scene to coordinate the emergency response. Various departments, including emergency management, fire services, power supply, health, and civil affairs, mobilized their resources to provide medical aid to the injured, restore electricity, assess the extent of the damage, and provide support and reassurance to affected residents.
