11th May 2021 – (Hong Kong) Tai Po District Councillor, Nick Lam Ming-yat posted on Facebook today saying that he had resigned from his post as Tai Po District Councillor. Today (11th) is the last day in office. He said that since taking office, he has followed up on issues in the district.
He also pointed out that many residents have asked him for help, and there is not enough rest time, and he has not been able to rest. Lam pointed out that over the years, it has been increasingly discovered that voices of district councillors have been dampened.
Many of the requests that are taken for granted or dismissed by government departments. There is no room for policy changes. He realised that district councillors are just an “odd-job” workers for the government which prompted him to resign.
