27th October 2026 – (Hong Kong) A 7-11 convenience store in Tuen Mun reported a suspected internal theft after an audit allegedly revealed that about HK$81,000 had gone missing, leading to the arrest of a 20‑year‑old male employee surnamed Lam. The incident came to light near 7.00pm on 26th October when the store manager at 43 Lung Mun Road contacted authorities following a review of accounts that indicated irregularities.

According to the store’s preliminary checks, more than ten transactions were identified as unauthorised transfers, with funds reportedly routed into electronic wallets through value‑add operations. The transactions are understood to involve top‑ups for Octopus, Alipay and WeChat Pay accounts, which prompted further scrutiny of till records and internal access logs before the matter was referred to police.

Responding officers detained the part‑time employee on suspicion of theft following an initial on‑site investigation.
