11th September 2021 – (Hong Kong) The Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching and moon cakes are indispensable for locals. However, after a customer recently bought some mooncakes from the Spring Moon Restaurant at Peninsula Hotel, they found them mouldy.
The custard filling was not only dark, but even sour and smelly. There is still a period of time before the expiration date, which is a cause for concern. The hotel expressed great concern about the incident and believed it was an individual issue, and was willing to replace the mooncakes for the customer.
According to the photos provided by the customer, the expiration date on the box is until 16th September this year. The Peninsula Hong Kong expressed its great concern about this incident, attaches great importance to the well-being and health of its guests, and has strict requirements on the quality of its products. The hotel pointed out that since the mooncakes from Spring Moon Restaurant are made of fresh ingredients, they have a limited edible and shelf life even before the Mid-Autumn Festival, hence, they must be preserved in a rigorous manner in the refrigerator.
