16th September 2026 – (Hong Kong) A Mercedes-Benz private car collided with a medium goods vehicle on Tuen Mun Road towards Tsuen Wan and Kowloon near MTR Siu Hong station at about 8.00am, leaving nobody hurt but throwing the morning peak into a long crawl that stretched as far as Yuen Long Park while some Kowloon-bound lanes stayed shut.
Online photographs circulated after the crash showed the Mercedes spun round so that its nose pointed the wrong way on the middle lane, with tyre marks left on the carriageway. The published headline characterised the goods vehicle as a crane truck; the incident account itself described it as a medium goods vehicle. Police were investigating how the two vehicles came together and had not issued a fuller reconstruction when the first notices went out.
The Transport Department said that because of the accident, some traffic lanes on Tuen Mun Road in the Kowloon-bound direction near Tsing Tin Interchange remained closed. Motorists could use only the lanes still open and were advised to switch to other roads where possible rather than force their way into the bottleneck around the interchange and the Siu Hong approach.
The department also warned that bus services running via Tuen Mun Road towards Kowloon had already been disrupted. Passengers were told to consider the MTR or other public transport instead of waiting in the bus queue on the highway corridor. At the time of the advisory, traffic at the scene was still congested.
Tuen Mun Road is the main eastern exit from Tuen Mun towards Tsuen Wan and urban Kowloon, so a mid-lane blockage near Siu Hong quickly pushes delay upstream. The reported tail reaching Yuen Long Park underlined how far the jam had travelled within the first hour after 8.00am, even though the crash itself produced no injuries requiring hospital treatment.
