12th October 2026 – (Hong Kong) The Lok Ma Chau–Huanggang Cross‑boundary Shuttle Bus, completed its final northbound journey at 6.15am, marking the end of nearly three decades of service between Hong Kong’s Lok Ma Chau and Shenzhen’s Huanggang as arrangements transition to the new Huanggang Port. The operator confirmed that the southbound farewell service departed before 6.30am once all cross‑boundary travellers at the old Huanggang Port had cleared immigration and boarded.
Launched on 20th March 1997, the shuttle provided continuous point‑to‑point connectivity across the boundary and became a familiar fixture for commuters and visitors. In the early hours today, large numbers of passengers and transport enthusiasts gathered at the Royal Bus stop inside San Tin Public Transport Interchange to board or photograph the last northbound run. Around 5.00am, representatives of Kowloon Motor Bus and the Royal Bus held a brief handover ceremony, drawing onlookers who captured the moment to commemorate the service’s place in Hong Kong’s transport history.
Some bus aficionados made special trips to bid farewell, expressing gratitude for years of reliable cross‑boundary journeys.
