2nd November 2026 – (Hong Kong) Police stopped a Lexus private car outside Siu Tsui Court on Hoi Wong Road in Tuen Mun this morning after the vehicle allegedly struck a checkpoint gate at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge overnight and drove off, briefly bursting through a cordon before officers boxed it in.
According to the force, the car hit a barrier at an inspection booth within the bridge area at 1.17am and left without stopping. Officers traced the Lexus through the morning and intercepted it at 11.08am on Hoi Wong Road, where inquiries continued at the scene. The case is for the time being classified as a traffic accident with no injuries reported, followed by failing to stop and remain.
Online clips circulating from the Tuen Mun chase show several police cars trying to sandwich the Lexus at the junction of Hoi Wing Road and Hoi Wong Road. The private car still broke out of that containment, swinging hard right from Hoi Wing Road onto Hoi Wong Road.
Near Tuen Yee Street, it was finally gated to a halt by a police tactical unit vehicle, striking a roadside railing. A man was arrested there. Field reports put his age at about 30 to 40. No prohibited items had been found in the car at an early search, and police called in a drug-detection dog to assist.
Police had mounted a Fast Advance interception once the Lexus was located in the district. Officers had to adjust when the car punched through the first Hoi Wing–Hoi Wong pinch rather than yielding to the surrounding units, forcing the chase onward toward Tuen Yee Road.
Bridge checkpoint barriers form part of the controlled approach to the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Leaving after striking such a gate still draws a force response even where, as here, early reports stress that nobody was hurt and the working file remains a traffic accident followed by failing to stop.
Police said they were still investigating at the roadside after the 11.08am stop, with the drug dog on scene and the arrested man held while the vehicle and its path from the dawn bridge gate were examined.
