Langham Place seals streets for Halloween crush

31st October 2026 – (Hong Kong) By about 6.00pm the crush outside Langham Place was already loud and bright: stretches of Portland Street and Shantung Street had been closed for the mall’s Halloween street party, with police and security holding the lines while queues snaked toward games, giveaways and photo spots.

The free list alone was enough to keep people waiting. Organisers promised a Halloween special-edition Hoover ice cream, Fanta drinks, game booths, face painting, costume props for check-in shots, themed temporary tattoos and headpieces — all part of turning the Mong Kok pavement into a Hong Kong-flavoured music carnival through 8.00pm, after a 1.00pm start.

Music came in waves rather than one long set. Hong Kong breaking pair BBOY C PLUS and The Breakdown Station shared the street with popular bands and DJ electronic slots, mixing street dance, live sets and club energy for anyone who wandered past without a ticket — admission itself was open.

International designer DANSIN was tapped for the visual hook: a collab that dressed a classic Hong Kong red public light bus as the Mong Kok Demon Van and spun out a line of cute original local monsters drawn from everyday Mong Kok life. After dark the van and monster balloons rolled into the streetscape and instantly became the phones-up magnets for shoppers and tourists cutting through the district.

That van was not only a prop. It also ran as a free shuttle linking Langham Place in Mong Kok with Parkes Street in Jordan, ferrying costumed crowds between the party strip and another busy pocket of Kowloon while street performers — the so-called spook squad — worked the closed road.

Langham Place framed the night as Mong Kok’s first Halloween street party on this scale, folding street culture, live music, cosplay check-ins and local snacks into one outdoor block. Costumed characters and the Demon Van were meant to give the district a home-grown Halloween language instead of a purely imported haunted-house look.
