30th October 2020 – (Hong Kong) Dr.Chuang Shuk-kwan from Centre for Health Protection (CHP) announced at 4.30pm today that there are 7 new COVID-19 cases (as of 12am today) consisting of 6 imported cases and 1 case with unknown sources. Total cases have reached 5,321.
The 6 imported cases include Case No. 5315, a Filipino domestic helper, Case No. 5316, a returnee from India, Cases No. 5317 and 5318 returnees from Pakistan via Doha. Cases No. 5319 and 5320 are two family members from India who arrived in Hong Kong on 26th October.
There is one case with unknown sources reported today. The patient is a 44-year-old man who lives at 10-16, Ching Wah Street, North Point. He works at Shun Tak Centre West Wing in Sheng Wan and he travels to work in company vehicle. More than 40 employees in his company have tested negative. The man tested preliminarily positive on 29th October. He developed symptoms on 27th October. During incubation period on 25th October, he went hiking on Beacon Hill with a friend. He did not wear a mask during hiking. Afterwards, he had a meal at an eatery in So Uk. Residents at his apartment and close contacts at his office need to undergo virus testing. Among them, 11 colleagues who worked in the same group with the patient and shared the pantry including cleaning staff are required to undergo quarantine and testing.
The Center for Health Protection revealed that the man had visited Shenzhen from the end of September to the beginning of October, and entered the Shenzhen Bay Port on the 6th of this month and was exempted from quarantine. According to the sources, the man was employed by the staff of the mainland agency in Hong Kong.
He also played badminton with some friends at Harbour Road Sports Centre in Wan Chai on 23rd October. His friends also need to undergo virus testing.
Dr.Lau Ka-hin from Hospital Authority (HA) announced that as of 9am today, 97 confirmed patients were being treated in 18 hospitals of the Hospital Authority A. Among them, 9 are in critical condition, 4 are in serious condition, and 84 are in stable condition.
9 COVID-19 confirmed patients were discharged from the hospital in the last 24 hours. A total of 5,082 patients with confirmed infection and 1 probable infection have been discharged so far.
No patients have passed away in the past 24 hours.
At present, public hospitals have put to use 1,098 negative pressure beds with a utilisation rate of 58% and 614 negative pressure wards have been put to use, with a utilisation rate of 66%.
