1st November 2026 – (Hong Kong) Donald Trump said he had no plans to meet Flavio Bolsonaro but added that the Brazilian senator could remain in the United States “as long as he wants,” speaking to reporters during a Halloween event at Mar‑a‑Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, on 31st October. Trump criticised Brazil’s presidential contest as a “disgrace” and suggested the candidate had been treated unfairly, while declining to set out any timetable for contact.

Flavio Bolsonaro, who lost the 25th October runoff to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, arrived in the United States with family members after departing Argentina and making a stopover in Ecuador earlier in the week. The Liberal Party figure has been a prominent ally of the right in Brazil and a long‑time political standard‑bearer within his family, having served as a senator since 2019.

Trump’s remarks, delivered in an informal exchange, left open the possibility of an extended stay for Bolsonaro in the country but did not signal an imminent meeting.
