28th October 2026 – (Seoul) Seungri, the former Big Bang member whose real name is Lee Seung‑hyun, has told Korean media he has registered his marriage to a woman in her twenties and that the couple are expecting their first child in January next year. He said there are no current plans for a wedding ceremony and that he will focus on prenatal care and preparing for the birth. Reports emphasised the union was not prompted by the pregnancy.

The 35‑year‑old remains under police investigation over an alleged assault said to have taken place on 8th August at a restaurant in Seoul’s Gangnam district. The complainant claims Seungri threatened and attacked him with a soju bottle. Representatives for Seungri acknowledged he picked up a bottle but rejected allegations of brandishing it or committing assault or intimidation, saying a dispute began after a drunken patron repeatedly pressed to join his table and pitch a business idea despite refusals.

Seungri debuted with Big Bang in 2006 but left the group after becoming embroiled in the “Burning Sun” scandal. He was later convicted on nine counts, including habitual gambling, procuring prostitution and offences under foreign‑exchange laws, and received a one year and six months prison sentence. He was released in February 2023. Recent online speculation that he had spoken of “family to protect” during an interview preceded reports of his partner’s pregnancy and the couple’s home in Seoul’s Gangnam district, with some earlier accounts suggesting a ceremony might follow the birth; subsequent reports clarified the marriage had already been legally registered.
