24th August 2026 – (Hong Kong) The Hong Kong Observatory said yesterday that a broad trough of low pressure will keep conditions unsettled along the South China coast over the next two to three days. Tropical Storm Narra is expected to turn northeast late Monday into Tuesday, edging towards the Leizhou Peninsula area and bringing periods of heavy showers and squally thunderstorms to coastal Guangdong in the early to middle part of the week with freshening winds.

The nine‑day outlook points to showers and thunderstorms between 24th and 26th August, with rainfall likely heavier in places on Tuesday, followed by a showery Thursday with brief sunny intervals as the influence gradually eases. The Observatory also noted that super typhoon Saudel over the northwest Pacific is likely to move towards the Ryukyu Islands in the coming days; while distant, its subsiding air could drive hot conditions over South China late in the week.

On Friday 28th and Saturday 29th August, sunshine at times and heat are expected, with urban temperatures around 28 to 33 degrees. Sunday 30th and Monday 31st should be mostly cloudy with a few showers. The new school year begins on Tuesday 1st September, when the city is forecast to be mostly cloudy with a few showers, southerly to southwesterly winds at force 4, and temperatures near 28 to 32 degrees. Relative humidity on the forecast is set to peak around 95 per cent on several days.
