15th August 2026 – (Hong Kong) A ten‑vehicle collision on the Kowloon‑bound carriageway of Lion Rock Tunnel Road in Sha Tin disrupted traffic today, with reports of four people sustaining minor injuries. The pile‑up, which involved private cars, taxis and a medium goods vehicle, caused significant delays as police and emergency crews attended the scene.
The Transport Department said part of the Kowloon‑bound lanes near Union Hospital were closed following the crash, and motorists were restricted to the remaining open lanes. Congestion built quickly in the approach to the tunnel as officers directed traffic and recovery teams began clearing the vehicles.
According to initial information, the incidents occurred in two clusters at similar locations. At about 11.42am, two taxis and a private car collided, leaving a male taxi passenger slightly hurt. A second crash was reported at about 12.09pm involving a medium goods vehicle, five private cars and a taxi, with four men injured. In total, five casualties were taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment.
