15th November 2025 – (Hong Kong) Eighteen people were injured this afternoon when a Citybus reportedly lost control and ploughed into a roadside planter outside Hong Kong International Airport’s Terminal 1. The incident occurred at about 3.16pm. All casualties were conscious, with seven understood to have sustained more serious injuries.
Images circulating online show the A12 service double‑decker with both upper and lower front windscreens shattered, while a nearby road sign appeared bent out of position following the impact.
Traffic has been heavily affected on Cheong Hong Road near the Terminal 1 departures drop‑off area, where several lanes have been cordoned off. Motorists are restricted to the remaining open lanes, and congestion in the vicinity is reported to be significant.
Twelve of the wounded were taken by ambulance to North Lantau Hospital, while six others were transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital. At the site, the bus’s front wheel was left hanging over a planter, the front end was badly damaged and the windscreen shattered. Firefighters stabilised the vehicle with equipment and spread sawdust on the road surface. Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
A Citybus spokesman said that at around 3pm today, an Airport Express A12 service travelling from Siu Sai Wan towards the airport was involved in a traffic incident on Cheong Hong Road. Approximately 18 people, including the driver and passengers, sustained minor injuries. Citybus extended its sympathy to those affected and has dispatched staff to the scene and hospitals to follow up. The company will fully cooperate with law enforcement in determining the cause and has suspended the driver from duty in line with established procedures.
