29th January 2022 – (Hong Kong) Junius Ho, a pro-Beijing Legislative Councillor recently said that it is irresponsible for European and American countries to choose to coexist with the COVID-19 virus. These countries should be sued for negligence resulting in loss of lives and properties. Ho said that the strategy of “preventing imported cases and defence against rebound of local cases” has been practised by the Chinese government since the beginning of the epidemic.
If there are experts in Hong Kong who promote coexistence with the virus, or violate national defence policies and social order, it can be regarded as a violation of National Security Law. Ho pointed out that the United Kingdom was the first to propose herd immunity, and the United States also lost control in its epidemic situation. Hence, not only the promotion of the “co-existence with the virus” policy is irresponsible, it is also an excuse used by these governments for their failure to control the virus. He said that it’s a public duty (social responsibility) to stop the epidemic.
