20th July 2021 – (Hong Kong) The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) announced that as of 0.00am today, the CHP was investigating seven additional confirmed COVID-19 cases taking the number of cases to 11,966 in Hong Kong so far (comprising 11,965 confirmed cases and one probable case).
All of the newly reported cases are imported cases. The 7 imported cases include 2 from United States, 1 from Japan, 1 from France , 1 from Iran and 1 from Bangladesh. 3 of them developed symptoms.
A total of 15 cases have been reported in the past 14 days, including 14 imported cases and one import-related case.
As a passenger flight (QR818) operated by Qatar Airways arriving in Hong Kong from Doha, Qatar, on 18th July had four passengers confirmed to have COVID-19 by arrival testing, the DH thus invoked the Prevention and Control of Disease (Regulation of Cross-boundary Conveyances and Travellers) Regulation (Cap. 599H) to prohibit the landing of passenger flights from Doha operated by Qatar Airways in Hong Kong from 20th July to 2nd August.
As at 9am today, two COVID-19 confirmed patients (Case Nos. 11949 and 11950) were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 11,688 patients with confirmed or probable infection have been discharged.
At present, there are 602 negative pressure rooms in public hospitals with 1 089 negative pressure beds activated. A total of 25 confirmed patients are currently hospitalised in nine public hospitals and the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre, among which one patient (Case No. 9907) is in serious condition and the remaining 24 patients are in stable condition.
