7 deputy directors of the Liaison Office in Hong Kong sanctioned by U.S.

16th July 2021 – (Washington) The Office of Overseas Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on Friday (16th) that the seven deputy directors of the Liaison Office in Hong Kong will be sanctioned, namely Chen Dong, Yang Jianping, Qiu Hong, Lu Xinning, Tan Tieniu, He Jing, and Yin Zonghua.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian responded earlier, stating that the Chinese government is unwavering in its determination to oppose US interference in Hong Kong affairs. He reiterated that Hong Kong affairs are purely China’s internal affairs, and no foreign country has the right to interfere in arbitrary ways. The United States should abide by international law and basic norms of international relations and stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China’s internal affairs in any way.
