7th January 2022 – (Hong Kong) Witman Hung, Deputy to National People’s Congress and Principal Liaison Officer for Hong Kong · Shenzhen Qianhai Authority held a birthday party for more than 160 people at Reserva Ibérica Tapas Bar & Restaurant in Causeway Centre in Wan Chai on Monday (3rd). Many government officials and Legislative Councillors attended the party and there were two preliminary COVID-19 cases who attended including a 37-year-old woman and Joyce Yeung, a RTHK broadcaster.

It is reported that the 37-year-old female patient is the daughter of the founder family of Wing Yuen Tea House, Celia Wong. The family has many close contacts in the political circle. She runs a Wing Yuen Tea House on Peel Street in Central. She may have been infected by the 28-year-old Cathay flight attendant living in the Nan Tin Mansion in North Point. The flight attendant infected her 62-year-old mother who lives with her and her mother infected her 59-year-old friend who ate with her at the Six Garden restaurant in Tin Hau and the daughter of woman who lives with her is Celia Wong.
According to Centre for Health Protection today, 37-year-old Celia Wong (Case No. 12838) contacted another 32-year-old woman who is a preliminary case. The two chatted at the entrance of Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo for 15-30 minutes on 2nd January. She removed her mask to drink water and this was most probably the route of infection. The 32-year-old woman worked at the secretariat of the Y.Elites Association. She last went to work on 5th January and lived in Wan Poon House in Chai Wan. She was fully vaccinated. The authorities believe that the Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo is a high-risk place and may spread infection. Therefore, people who have been there will be listed as close contacts and must be quarantined and tested.
The chairwoman of the Y.Elites Association, Tsang Fung-ying also attended the birthday party on 3rd January and took a photo with Hung, who was singing without a mask.
