Massive flooding at MTR Wong Tai Sin Station causes significant Disruption on Kwun Tong Line, multiple station entrances closed

8th September 2023 – (Hong Kong) At 12.20am today, the MTR made an announcement regarding severe train service disruption on the Kwun Tong Line. The disruption was caused by flooding in a section near Wong Tai Sin Station. As a result, train service between Whampoa Station and Kwun Tong Station on the Kwun Tong Line has been completely suspended. Additionally, due to flooding at MTR Wong Tai Sin Station, in particular, near Exit E, trains will not be making any stops at the station until further notice.

Late last night, at 11.53pm, the MTR also reported that Entrance/Exit A2 in Nam Cheong Station had to be temporarily closed due to flooding near the station. Passengers are advised to use alternative entrances/exits during this time.

Furthermore, at 11.19pm yesterday, Chai Wan Station experienced flooding near the station, resulting in the temporary closure of Entrance/Exit E. Passengers are requested to use other available entrances/exits to access the station until the situation is resolved.

Lastly, Sheung Shui Station is facing similar challenges, with flooding near the station leading to the temporary closure of Entrance/Exit E. Passengers are advised to utilize alternative entrances/exits until the flooding subsides.

The MTR is working diligently to address the flooding and restore normal operations as soon as possible. Passengers are encouraged to stay updated with the latest announcements and make necessary travel arrangements accordingly.
