21st March 2026 – (Hong Kong) A doctor from the Kowloon West Cluster is facing scrutiny after posting a photograph from inside an Accident & Emergency resuscitation room to his Instagram Stories. The image, taken during a cardioversion procedure, was captioned, “A rare cardioversion — everyone’s come to watch me deliver the shock.” Screenshots of the post quickly circulated online, prompting accusations that the conduct breached professional ethics. The doctor deleted the post soon after and briefly switched his account from public to private. The username matches that of Jensen So, who competed in ViuTV’s King Maker III.
The Hospital Authority said on Thursday (21st March) that the Kowloon West Cluster places utmost importance on protecting patient privacy and will not tolerate any disclosure in any form. The cluster will review the incident and, if a breach is found, handle it in accordance with established human resources procedures, referring the matter to the relevant regulatory bodies if necessary.
The controversy first surfaced on Threads, where users alleged a public hospital doctor had uploaded an image of an A&E resuscitation to Instagram, contrary to Hospital Authority by-laws that prohibit photography and filming on public hospital premises to safeguard patient confidentiality. Shared screenshots show the “sojendr” Instagram account posting a picture inside a resuscitation bay, with several clinicians surrounding a patient, alongside the caption referencing cardioversion. The post has since been removed, and the account was temporarily set to private.
Online sleuths also noted that the same account had previously shared images from a hospital visit in Africa. Publicly available information indicates that Jensen So reached the top 83 in King Maker III in 2020. Standing 1.83 metres tall and known for his fitness routine, he was nicknamed the “handsome doctor” during the show. He worked in neurosurgery during the competition, later moving to A&E duties during the pandemic, and is currently attached to the Kowloon West Cluster.
Reiterating its position, the Hospital Authority stressed that all staff must strictly observe privacy rules. Any confirmed non-compliance will be dealt with under established procedures and may be escalated to the appropriate watchdog.
