21st September 2026 – (New York) Bitcoin climbed above 86,000 dollars late on Monday alongside gains in equity futures, extending a wider risk‑on move across technology and digital‑asset markets. The advance came as crude prices eased for a fourth straight session and investors positioned for a high‑level diplomatic meeting expected later this week, with broader macro sentiment supported by softer long‑dated Treasury yields.

Updated 55 minutes ago, trading screens showed crypto majors firmly higher, with bitcoin hovering near 85,000 dollars after a burst of short liquidations reportedly cleared several hundred million dollars within an hour. Momentum spilled into listed crypto‑exposed names, helping lift indices after a mostly uneven prior week in U.S. equities.

Coinbase said it will begin offering eligible retail clients access to initial public offerings, starting with smart‑ring maker Oura’s listing this week, allowing customers to request allocations at the offer price before secondary trading begins. While allocations are not guaranteed, the move narrows the gap between the crypto platform and traditional brokerages that already provide retail IPO channels, and shares in Coinbase rose around 6 per cent in step with the crypto‑led rally.

Crypto‑linked stocks advanced broadly. Strategy — the bitcoin treasury company associated with Michael Saylor — gained about 9 per cent after resuming purchases of BTC following a short pause. Tokenisation platform Securitize rose as much as 8 per cent, extending a three‑day run amid enthusiasm around rules for tokenised securities, while Coinbase added roughly 5 to 6 per cent. Galaxy Digital, BitGo and Circle were each up between about 4 and 5 per cent. Among miners, Riot Platforms gained around 5 per cent, and former pure‑play miners now focused on AI and high‑performance computing — including CleanSpark, Hive Digital and Bitdeer — were up roughly 3 per cent.

Market breadth improved with the Nasdaq 100 up about 2 per cent in morning trade, pushing above the 30,000 level and within roughly 1.5 per cent of its June peak, while the S&P 500 advanced close to 0.9 per cent. The rebound followed last week’s declines for the Dow and a flat finish for the broad market, even as the tech‑heavy Nasdaq eked out gains.

Ethereum‑focused Bitmine disclosed the purchase of 27,562 ether, worth about 75 million dollars at Monday’s prices, bringing its holdings to roughly 5.98 million ETH — close to 4.9 per cent of the network’s supply — and keeping a five per cent accumulation target within reach if recent pacing continues. The firm’s chairman, Tom Lee of Fundstrat, said institutions appear underweight digital assets after prioritising AI shares this year and could increase exposure into year‑end should ETH’s third‑quarter strength persist.

Analysts also flagged a technical milestone as bitcoin reclaimed the average U.S. spot ETF cost basis near 82,225 dollars for the first time since January, a level that acted as resistance in May when the rally stalled around 81,000 dollars. The move above that threshold added to the day’s bullish tone as dip‑buyers returned following recent volatility.

In separate treasury news, Strive Asset Management said it acquired 1,355 bitcoin for about 107.7 million dollars at an average price of 79,475 dollars, lifting total holdings to 26,355 BTC. The company reported additional capital raised through warrant exercises and preferred shares, noting an increase in cash and equivalents as bitcoin traded just below 85,000 dollars in pre‑market indications.
