30th October 2026 – (Hong Kong) The Housing Bureau reported that, as at the end of September 2026, the potential supply of first‑hand private homes over the coming three to four years is about 100,000 units, roughly 4,000 more than the previous quarter. The tally comprises around 19,000 completed but unsold first‑hand units, unchanged quarter on quarter; approximately 62,000 units that are under construction but unsold, up by about 1,000 from the prior quarter; and some 19,000 units on disposed, ready‑to‑build sites, an increase of around 3,000 quarter on quarter.
Private‑housing activity slowed notably in the third quarter. New construction starts were recorded at about 2,800 units, around 50 per cent lower than the roughly 5,600 units in the second quarter. Completions also fell, dropping from about 6,400 units in the second quarter to roughly 1,700 units in the third quarter, a decline of about 73.4 per cent. The bureau said it would continue to monitor market conditions and project timelines as it works with the industry to bring pipeline supply to market.
