Veteran martial-arts actor Michael Chan filmed on cane needing support

30th October 2026 – (Hong Kong) An 82-year-old actor Michael Chan Wai-man has been filmed leaving a roadside stop with a cane in one hand and a helper gripping the other, a slow and slightly unsteady walk that has stirred fresh concern among fans of the veteran martial-arts actor.

Chan, long watched for his fragile health in recent years, appears in the newly circulated clip in a black suit jacket over a white shirt and a black baseball cap. His right hand steadies a walking stick while a man in a brown top keeps a firm hold of his left. Looking somewhat thinner than in his screen prime, he moves with care before companions guide him towards a black seven-seater parked by the kerb.

The tattoos that once marked his hard-man image — a dragon on the back, a green dragon and white tiger on either side, twin eagles across the chest — remain part of how audiences remember him. For many, though, his signature turn is still Camel of Tung Sing in the Young and Dangerous films, a role that fixed him as a screen “triad big brother” long after his fighting days.

His medical record since 2020 has been heavy. That year he suffered a stroke and was diagnosed with lung cancer; in 2021 he faced brain cancer and a long course of treatment. Conditions later stabilised, yet his legs and mobility never fully recovered. In 2024 hip-joint trouble led to surgery, after which he has usually needed a cane for outings.

In August 2026 Chan filmed his own update for the public. He described his overall state as only so-so and said plainly that the main problem was his feet and legs. The latest street footage mirrors that account: limited mobility, reliance on a stick and a constant escort, rather than a sudden new collapse. What fans see now is the same story told without words — a careful shuffle to a waiting people-carrier instead of the commanding stride that once filled fight scenes and triad dramas.
