30th October 2026 – (Hong Kong) A male patient at Kwai Chung Hospital who became obsessed with pornography has admitted taking a moderately intellectually disabled neighbour from the same ward into a men’s shower room for anal sex, after other patients caught them and staff raised the alarm.

Wong Kai-chun pleaded guilty in the High Court today to one count of buggery with a mentally incapacitated person (HCCC 291/2026), covering an attack on 13th September 2024 in the men’s shower room of ward L2 on the second floor of the hospital. Miss LAI Yuen Kee, Anna, BBS, Judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court, adjourned the case to 10th December for mitigation and sentence and ordered a trauma report on the victim in the meantime.

The court heard that Wong and the victim, anonymised as X and then aged 26, were both inpatients. That night nurses were told someone had seen Wong embracing X from behind in the bathroom while X was naked from the waist down. By the time staff reached the toilet both men had dressed. After speaking to X, nurses learned anal sex had taken place and the matter was reported to police.

X later said Wong, who slept in the next bed, had invited him to the toilet for oral sex and told him to kiss Wong’s anus and mouth, which made X unhappy. Without a condom, Wong inserted his penis into X’s anus and ejaculated. X said he felt unhappy because he had been raped. A forensic examination found a three-centimetre abrasion below X’s left buttock, and a proctoscopy showed slight rectal bleeding. X has moderate intellectual disability and paranoid schizophrenia and is classified as a mentally incapacitated person.

In a video-recorded interview, Wong said he had known X for about a month, was addicted to pornographic films and felt sexual urges. He targeted the neighbouring bed because X was easy to approach. Wong claimed X agreed to oral sex but admitted he never asked whether X consented to anal sex. He said penetration lasted about two minutes before other patients interrupted and a nurse arrived and scolded him. Wong said he knew X had moderate intellectual disability and could not refuse others, adding that he acted on impulse, knew he was wrong and felt remorse.
