28th October 2026 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong equities opened firmer, with the Hang Seng Index advancing 83 points, or 0.36 per cent, to 23,124 after starting 42 points higher at 23,083. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index added 37 points, or 0.47 per cent, to 7,804, and the Hang Seng Tech Index rose 53 points, or 1.4 per cent, to 3,853. Turnover on the main board reached HK$17.2 billion in early trade.

Gains were concentrated in heavyweight technology counters, with Tencent Holdings up 1.1 per cent, Alibaba Group rising 1.4 per cent, Meituan higher by 1.1 per cent, Xiaomi up 1 per cent, JD.com firmer by 1 per cent and Kuaishou advancing 1.1 per cent. The sector’s advance helped offset pockets of weakness elsewhere in the market.

Financials were mixed. HSBC Holdings climbed 1.1 per cent, while AIA Group fell 2.4 per cent. Ping An Insurance edged up 0.2 per cent and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing slipped 0.3 per cent, reflecting a cautious tone across rate‑sensitive names even as broader risk appetite improved.

Pop Mart International Group traded softer after releasing third‑quarter revenue figures, with the share price down 4.4 per cent in early dealings, underperforming the wider market despite strength in technology leaders.
