8th September 2026 – (Kyiv) Explosions were reported in Ukraine’s capital in the early hours of Tuesday as Russia resumed attacks following a three‑day halt that coincided with a visit by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. A blast was heard at about 3.30am local time, and city authorities later confirmed ballistic missiles had been launched towards Kyiv.
Municipal officials said residential buildings in two districts sustained damage. Residents were urged via official channels to remain in shelters until the air‑raid warning was lifted. There were no immediate details on casualties.
Witkoff and Kushner met Ukrainian officials in Kyiv on Sunday, a day after holding talks in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as part of a renewed push by Washington to explore avenues to end the war.
