21st August 2026 – (Birmingham) A dramatic attack unfolded outside the Royal Shalimar venue in Sparkbrook, Birmingham on the evening of 19th August, as a group of youths targeted a line of supercars parked outside a wedding reception attended by around five hundred guests. At approximately 8.30pm, several petrol bombs were hurled at the vehicles, three landing dangerously close to people on the pavement, including a baby. The remaining devices were thrown near a Lamborghini and a McLaren, igniting a ball of flames and prompting some guests to retreat in panic while others rushed to avert greater damage, either by kicking the burning bottles away from the cars or quickly driving them to safety.
CCTV footage reviewed by authorities depicts three individuals, all in black, carrying out the attack from across the road. While one youth was seen lobbing the initial petrol bombs, another moved closer to the parked cars to launch further incendiaries or pour accelerant onto the flames. Quick reactions from the venue’s staff, who deployed fire extinguishers before the emergency services arrived, were instrumental in preventing serious harm. Witnesses reported that the situation could have been much worse, given that crowds, including children, were just metres away from the unfolding incident, with one young person even kicking a firebomb aside, stopping it from rolling beneath a vehicle.
The assailants reportedly fled on foot into nearby Mole Street before leaving the area in a white Volkswagen Golf. The West Midlands Police have since launched a full investigation and are working closely with witnesses and poring over CCTV footage. Officers have confirmed that, despite the dramatic nature of the attack, no injuries were sustained. The authorities have urged anyone with information to contact them, referencing log 5308 of 18th August, either through the police website’s Live Chat or by calling 101.
