30th July 2026 – (Hong Kong) A motorcyclist has died following a serious collision on Tolo Highway on Thursday, 30th July. The bike was travelling towards Kowloon at around 7.38pm. The rider was thrown to the ground and was then struck by a seven-seater vehicle approaching from behind. He was rushed to North District Hospital unconscious, but was pronounced dead at 8.52pm. The incident caused significant traffic disruption in the area as emergency services worked at the scene.
Officers arriving on site found the motorcycle with no obvious external damage but leaking oil, prompting police to spread wood shavings to absorb the spill. A single shoe believed to belong to the rider and several small fragments were recovered nearby. The seven-seater was stopped at the roadside with a damaged bumper and a deformed right front mudguard dragging on the ground.
According to preliminary accounts, the motorcycle had been travelling in the fast lane when a private car reportedly cut across from the third lane on the left into the rider’s path. The rider is said to have swerved, lost control and fallen, before being run over by the following seven-seater. The motorcycle continued for nearly 200 metres before coming to a halt. Following an initial investigation, police arrested the driver of the seven-seater on suspicion of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm, and are continuing to determine the precise cause and sequence of the crash.
