28th October 2026 – (Hong Kong) Private home prices in Hong Kong extended their recovery in September, with provisional figures from the Rating and Valuation Department showing the private domestic price index at 320.8, up about 0.19 per cent month on month. It marked a second consecutive monthly increase, taking the two‑month cumulative rise to roughly 0.22 per cent, while the index climbed about 7.08 per cent in the first nine months of 2026.
Despite the recent improvement, the price gauge remains about 19.42 per cent below its historic peak of 398.1 set in September 2021, underscoring the distance still to recover following the market’s multi‑year correction.
Rents continued to outpace prices. The private domestic rental index reached 212.2 in September, rising a further 0.47 per cent from August to set a new all‑time high. The benchmark has now advanced for 11 straight months, up about 6.15 per cent over that stretch and 5.84 per cent in the year to date.
Both major size segments recorded gains in September. The index for larger flats with a usable area above about 1,075 square feet rebounded to 291.5, up roughly 0.8 per cent on the month, bringing a two‑month rise of about 1.46 per cent and a year‑to‑date increase of around 7.64 per cent. The measure for small and medium‑sized units at or below about 1,075 square feet edged up to 322.6, an increase of roughly 0.16 per cent on the month and about 7.03 per cent for the first nine months of the year.
