3rd November 2026 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong equities started the session on a positive note, with the Hang Seng Index opening at 23,469, up 76 points, as early turnover reached HK$2.66 billion. The Hang Seng Tech Index added 0.4 per cent to 3,853, reflecting selective strength in technology counters.

Xiaomi extended recent gains with shares rising close to 2 per cent in early dealings, while Lenovo underperformed the broader market, falling more than 3 per cent at the open. By around 9.22am, the divergence in tech sentiment was evident as investors weighed company‑specific drivers against the wider tone.

Energy names retreated in step with softer crude prices, with PetroChina down nearly 3 per cent and CNOOC off by more than 2 per cent. The moves aligned with an overnight pullback in oil benchmarks that tempered risk appetite for the sector.

Shortly after the open, Lenovo’s slide deepened, with the stock down about 6 per cent by 9.32am and touching an intraday low of HK$19.61. Traders cited profit‑taking and rotation within technology as the principal themes, even as headline indices held modest gains.
