10th April 2026 – (Haifa) Israel has signalled there will be no pause in its campaign against Hezbollah, which officials frame as an immediate threat comparable to Iran. Around 1.5 million residents in northern Israel remain within range of Hezbollah rockets, with several border communities still largely deserted as evacuees await word on when they can return.

Late on Thursday and into the early hours of Friday, cross‑border rocket fire intensified, with the strategic port city of Haifa coming under attack. Haifa’s proximity to Lebanon has seen it hit repeatedly over more than five weeks of hostilities, but this marks the first reported targeting of the city since the Iran–United States ceasefire arrangement took effect early on Wednesday.

In Beirut, the extent of damage from recent Israeli strikes is becoming clearer as smoke lifts, exposing collapsed structures and charred buildings in hard‑hit neighbourhoods.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry says the death toll from Israeli attacks across the country on Wednesday has risen to 303.

Israel’s strikes followed the start of a two‑week truce between the US and Iran, which Pakistan’s UN envoy has reiterated also covered Lebanon.
