31st October 2026 – (Beijing) Fu Chengyu, the former chairman of China Petrochemical Corporation, also known as Sinopec Group, is now under official investigation for suspected serious violations of Party discipline and the law. The announcement was made on Saturday and confirmed that Fu, who also previously served as secretary of the leading Party members group within the company, is being scrutinised by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China in conjunction with the National Commission of Supervision.
