27th October 2026 – (Macao) Police in Macao have detained a 42‑year‑old mainland Chinese national, employed as a photographer, on suspicion of sexual coercion and sexual harassment against a younger female colleague who works as a sales assistant at the same Central district shop. Investigators were told the suspect, identified by the surname Li, allegedly began approaching the woman in August, repeatedly touching her thigh when the premises were quiet. The victim did not immediately report the behaviour because she feared she would not be believed.
According to the complaint, the most serious incident occurred on 22nd October in the afternoon when Li allegedly reached inside the woman’s clothing and touched her private area while the pair were alone in the shop. She resisted and pushed him away, but the conduct only ceased when another female colleague returned and witnessed the scene, after which the victim, encouraged by the colleague, reported the matter to the authorities.
Officers arrested Li at the shop later that afternoon. The case has been referred for prosecution on suspected offences of sexual coercion and sexual harassment. Police said the investigation is continuing and offered support to the victim while reminding employers to ensure staff safety protocols and prompt reporting mechanisms are in place.
