27th October 2026 – (London) Harry Kane has won the 2026 Ballon d’Or, becoming the first Englishman to secure the honour since Michael Owen in 2001 and only the fifth from England to do so, following Stanley Matthews, Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan and Owen. The Bayern Munich striker finished ahead of Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal at a ceremony held in London, capping a prolific campaign in which he scored 73 goals in 65 appearances for club and country, propelled Bayern to a domestic double and helped England reach the World Cup semi‑finals en route to a third‑place finish.

Kane, 33, accepted the trophy with an emotional address, thanking his family, including his wife Kate, as well as coaches, team‑mates and supporters from Bayern Munich, England and his former club Tottenham Hotspur. He reflected on a career shaped by early loan spells and persistence, telling young players that ambitions can be realised through resilience. The forward also collected the Gerd Müller Trophy as the season’s leading goalscorer, rounding off a landmark night in his home city.
