25th July 2024 – (Hong Kong) A lost Australian emu, suspected to have gone missing, was discovered running frantically along Tin Ying Road in Tin Shui Wai two months ago. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) and animal welfare organisation Love Home joined forces to capture the emu and ensure its well-being. AFCD personnel safely brought the emu back to their Animal Management Centre for further care.
Yesterday (24th), the AFCD took to social media to provide updates on the emu’s condition. The posts showcased the emu’s life in the AFCD’s facility, where dedicated staff members diligently groomed its feathers, fed it with fresh fruits, and attended to its daily needs. The department expressed their ongoing efforts in contacting partner animal welfare organisations to find a permanent and suitable home for the Australian emu.
